You don't necessarily have to be a big fan of peaches to want to find just the right luxury hotels Georgia has scattered throughout the state. Whether you are planning to make the flight solo or you are bringing the family along for a much needed break, this area of the United States won't disappoint. Of course, before you run to catch your flight back home, you won't get the full circle of experiences if you don't try out some of the peaches.
Before you make the trip out, consider sitting down to watch the movie, "Gone with the Wind". If you have the time, you could also read the book to get a feel for what it used to be like to walk down the streets in some of the most populated cities within Georgia. While you won't be packing up your hoop skirt or waistcoat, you will begin to get just a small taste of the historical significance of the area. While here, check out the Margaret Mitchell house to see where she spent time writing her novel and the Southern Belles and Whistles Tour in Jonesboro to find out more about this time period.
Georgia is definitely a place for families. No matter what the ages of your children, there will be plenty for them to do and see while away from home. For the older kids, you can explore Six Flags Over Georgia. This is the largest amusement park in this part of the United States. Kids can run from ride to ride, each one more exciting than the last one with dips and turns and high speeds that will send the wind whipping through their hair. While there, make sure to squeeze in some time for the shows and other entertainment. When the weather is warm you can head about twenty miles north and find the Six Flags White Water Park, complete with lazy river and water-slides galore.
Feel like the kids have it a little too easy? The next step on your adventure should be the Hard Labor Creek State Park. At the very least, the name might have the kids concerned, but there's no need for them to worry. There are plenty of fun things for everyone to do when you arrive. Take a horseback ride in the forest, take in the views on one of the hiking trails or spend some time along the beach for a swim and to get some sun. With recreational activities galore, there is something for everyone at the state park.
Between the amusement park and state park, everyone is sure to be worn out. You may want to plan a day to just stay inside your room at one of the luxury hotels Georgia has available. There will still be plenty for everyone to do. Consider ordering room service or going down to one of the on-site restaurants for a big, hearty breakfast. This is a great time to try out dishes like biscuits and gravy or grits if you have never had them before. Of course, expect there to be some peaches on the side.
You can also schedule a massage for the adults and a little poolside time for the kids. Just enjoy the pleasant weather and a restful, peaceful day in. Watch movies back in the room and head out to dinner in the evening time. This way, you will be ready to go as the next day gets you back out on the road exploring the state of Georgia. Even though you want to try to fit in lots of attractions and activities during your stay, a good night's sleep is always a good idea.
Once everyone is up in the morning you can plan to visit the SAM Shortline Excursion Train. You can tour the southwest portion of Georgia in a 1949 vintage train car. Along the way, you can get out and explore places like Jimmy Carter's childhood home, the Veteran's State Park and even the Telephone Museum. Because it is closed on the weekends, arrange to take on this excursion during the weekdays. Also, don't let the warm weather keep you from this experience. Even though the cars are older, they do have air conditioning, so you won't waste away in the heat. When you find that your adventure is coming to an end, make sure to take note of some of the packages at the luxury hotels Georgia offers so that you can start planning your return trip.
